How do I get a tutor?

Peer tutors volunteer their time to help students with their chosen subject at no charge. Students choose the best tutor for their needs under the tab "Our Tutors". Then, message your tutor in the Chat in the bottom right hand corner and determine a time that works for both you and your tutor. Your tutor will then send you a link to a Zoom meeting, using your given email address.

How does Athena Tutoring work?

Anything that an Athena Tutor is able to teach. We recommend browsing through various tutoring profiles before choosing the tutor that best fits your needs. Tutors each have their own profile that lists their various skills and otherwise describes them, offering you the opportunity to contact the tutor who can best help you.

Nothing! With volunteer peer tutors, we are able to offer you quality tutoring for free.

How much does each session cost?

Yes, absolutely! As long as the tutor is still volunteering at Athena Tutoring, you can always request the same tutor.

Can I work with the same tutor again?

Simply contact the tutor that you believe best fits your needs, and schedule a time to meet virtually through Zoom.

The time frame to work with a tutor is typically between 30 minutes to an hour. Based on the student's needs, it may be shorter or longer.

Why can't I see the chat button?

Your account might not be public. To make your account public, click on your profile name and picture on the right side of the menu, and press "account". You will see a button called "make profile public" on the left, under your profile picture. Click on that button, and reload the page. Alternatively, it may be because you are either not signed in, or have not yet created an account.

Please be aware that when you sign up and make your account public in order to contact your tutor, other Athena members will be able to see your name and will be able to message you. You are, however, more than welcome to use just your first name for privacy reasons.
